Pulling on my heartstrings

I was upstairs getting the boys ready for bed when the most delightful thing happened. I was trying to deflate the jumping pit and all the boys thought it would be fun to lay on it and goof around. That is when David decided it looked like a hot dog bun and said: "LOOK I am a hot dog in a bun!"

Not wanting to be outdone or be left out, Nathan squeezes in with David and exclaims:"Look I hot dog too!" Unbelievably I actually got a picture of it. Shortly after taking the snapshot. I heard Nathan lean over to David and say: "I love you David" to which David replied "I Love you too Nathan" Just one of those few and far between mom moments that us moms live for. YES! My kids do love eachother!

I will probably remember that every single time I see that jumping pit and every time I see a hot dog.

David's report card

It is all A's except one B in spelling.

We do not plan to go to the parent teacher conference this time around. We plan to take the kid to the dells and party at Kalahari resort.

John fixed some computers for a friend/coworker at TDS and did not charge them. So in turn they paid for us to have a stay at the Kalahari with tickets to the indoor theme park and breakfast the next morning. How nice is that! We were allowed to pick the date and we picked the day before parent teacher conference. The kids get out at half day on Friday but we are hijacking David Thursday and whisking him away to the dells for a fun weekend.

Thank you Lord - your blessing abound!

Nathan uses the potty chair

Monkey see monkey do! What is good for my big brothers is good for me too!

I am not ready to potty train Nathan. It is still winter and I potty train in the summer when they can run around in a t-shirt and nothing else. We will see if I can make it that long with Nathan. He is convinced that he is not a baby and that he is and has always been one of the "big kids". Yes he really did go on the potty, not just sit on it.

Oh and thank you Steve Jackson, if you are reading this. Even though we did not make our bathroom bigger, it sure is ALOT nicer.

Caleb's Reading

Today Caleb finished Level 1 of Hooked on Phonics. (Worth its weight in GOLD - I tell ya!)

He can now read over 250 words. He was so excited I thought he might just float off into space. I am so proud of my little man. We will continue to move on to level 2. I am not pushing it, he is really interested and motivated on his own. I thought David was a fast learner but he was 5 years and 4 months when he finished level 1. Caleb will be five in 2 months, and not officially kindergarten ready for 7 more months.

We do not plan to enroll him in Evansville public schools for Kindergarten . We home schooled David kindergarten and 1st grade and I plan to do the same with Caleb.

The little devil in me thinks it might be funny to take him to the kindergarten screening in March. Then walk in and tell them I don't think he is ready for school. Then once I leave the room have him read them a whole book; one that has long vowels. (Caleb would tell them -"It has a wizard e - see that there - it makes the 1st vowel say its name!") But of course that would blow up in my face since kids NEVER perform on demand. Just ask any experienced mom. When ever they think they can show off little jr that is exactly the moment little jr will refuse to participate. HA!

Needless to say I am really proud. Way to go Caleb!
