Excercise winter style

Here is how we try to wash away the winter blues. We take our swim lessons during the winter months.

This is Calebs first "real" swim lessons. His teacher made the first day fun and won his heart right away...
I am glad for that because he was completely disinterested in the idea of a swimming class...

David had made huge improvements in overcoming his fear of the water... I am glad to see him actually enjoy the water now... That has been a long time coming... Most of his peers would spend all day in a water park if given the chance but not David....

However swimming is considered a life skill in this house... I don't expect my kids to be on swim team and compete but they must learn how to survive and not drown. So off to the pool we go..... winter after winter.

Let it Snow!

A quick picture of the Baierl boys and the 3 oldest Hionis kids. We just got 4 inches of snow. John, bless his heart, and took all the kids plus the dog to the sledding hill.

It is a date!

The boys took me on a date. We went to the melting pot.It is a fancy fondue restaurant in madison. David held the door for me, then registered our name with the hostess and everything... I still had to pay but it was a good memory...

We enjoyed the chocolate dessert fondue but the fondue forks were a huge hit... Everything is a weapon.....

Caleb's Healing Medicine

Jenny hurt her back a couple of days ago and has been trying to take it easy.

The kids are really stepping up to the plate and helping out a lot.

David brought in the groceries today.

Caleb invented his very special 'Healing Medicine' for Mom to drink. How thoughtful of him. I hope you can make out the recipe he wrote down in the picture. I can send it to you if you need it.

Trip to Wausau

A few pictures of our quick half day visit to Wausau.

Our van has had it share of days at the mechanics this past 2 months... So we loaded everyone into the car for the day trip.

I think I really noticed how long Davids legs are due to this car ride... I felt bad for him.. He was like the double stuff in an oreo center, squished and bulging out.

We spent more time driving then being at our destination but it was great to see everyone.

Christmas 2011

Christmas morning at home with the boys.

This year it really stuck me that as the boys get older their presents get smaller in size. I am so thankful for that... Gone are the days where an excersaucer and playpen occupy half the living room.

The Legos are smaller... The bill is a bit larger but manageable.

They are all beyond the puzzle stage and the gap between playtime abilities of oldest and youngest has narrowed.

Superheroes and spy gadgets dominate the house as the war between good and evil rages on.

They good guys always win.

These truly are the good ol days.
